Ms. Mann has practiced family law in Ogden since 1995. Before that, she worked first as a legal secretary in Denver and Salt Lake City, then as a paralegal in Salt Lake City and Ogden. Frustrated by having to stop and defer to the attorneys when things started to get interesting, she decided to go to law school in her 40s; she has been helping people in Ogden and the surrounding areas ever since.
Ramona Mann has many years of experience with all levels of the practice of law. She spent many years as a legal secretary using her considerable talents in English, writing, organization, and clerical matters (she types over 90 words per minute, for instance). She realized, however, that she could do a lot more, so she went to paralegal school at Westminster College in Salt Lake City.
She worked as a paralegal with several of the largest and most prestigious law firms in Salt Lake City and Ogden. Eventually, however, she realized again that she could do a lot more, so she enrolled in the University of Utah School of Law. While in law school, she worked part-time at Utah Dispute Resolution, learning the ins and outs of mediation. She also clerked for a bankruptcy judge and a civil litigation attorney.
During her journey through the legal community, she has worked with patent law, major litigation, personal injury, bankruptcy, real estate, divorce, and any number of other fields of law. She found that her real preference for her own practice was family law, where she can help regular people through some of the most trying times of their lives. She is sympathetic and compassionate with her clients, but is fiercely protective of them at the same time.
Ms. Mann has also taught English at Weber State University as an adjunct professor in its writing classes.
Ms. Mann has been happily married for over 35 years and has two children and three grandchildren so far. (Because her own children are adopted, she particularly enjoys helping others with that happy process.)
As befits a family law practitioner, Ramona believes that she is dealing with real people with real problems. It is not a game, and it is not about billing clients for as much as she possibly can. She's not in this to get rich.
Her office and her style in dealing with you reflect this. You won't find her always dressed in power suits, carrying an elegant leather briefcase, and treating people as if she were the queen of the business world. You won't meet with her in a corporate boardroom with indecently expensive furnishings.
Instead, she is down-to-earth and sensible. She has an old kitchen table and chairs in her office, where you will comfortably sit down with her and work out how she can help you through your problems so you can get on with your life. She cares about you and your situation. She knows what to do help you through it. She'll protect you, she'll fight for you, and she'll get the job done.
Ramona's style fits well with the more laid-back atmosphere of the Top of Utah legal community. She is well respected by the judges and commissioners, who know they can believe what she says and not have to worry about dirty tricks, ridiculous demands, and other unsavory behavior.
